Government rebates!
With the Canadian government aiming to ban the use of combustion-powered vehicles by 2035, drivers will have to switch to cars with lower Co2 emissions.
So if you want to keep driving your Volvo on Quebec's beautiful roads, there are two alternatives: plug-in hybrids or 100% electric vehicles.
But this technology is still expensive to buy, compared with a combustion vehicle (around 30%). Fortunately, the federal and provincial governments offer various rebates to help reduce the final bill.
In this article, we explain what these discounts are and which vehicles in the Volvo range can benefit from them.
What are government rebates?
Government rebates in Canada are financial incentives offered to encourage the adoption of environmentally-friendly electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
As a result, for the purchase of a 100% electric vehicle, you can benefit from a federal iZVE incentive of $5,000, as well as provincial "Roulez Vert" assistance of up to $7,000. For plug-in hybrids, each government offers savings of up to $5,000.
What are the conditions for these grants? The vehicle's MSRP must not exceed $65,000. Finally, as you'll see in the rest of this article, Volvo used vehicles are also entitled to their own rebates.

A final word
If you've been paying attention, we haven't mentioned the government rebates for the Volvo EX30. The reason is simple: it's considered a 2025 model year, and government information hasn't yet been updated about this year's rebates.
However, as the Volvo EX30 is the least expensive 100% electric vehicle in the range, we have no doubt that it is eligible for up to $12,000 in subsidies from both governments.
