In this short instructional blog, we explain how to lock and unlock your car without using your Volvo key.
There are two easy ways to unlock/lock your Volvo.
1. With the door handle
The first is to use the door handle of your Volvo. On the door handle you can see a small recess. This is actually a control that locks your Volvo.
If you have the key near the car (in your bag or trouser pocket for example), all you have to do is apply a little pressure on this recess and your Volvo will lock.
To do the opposite and unlock the car, you just have to grab the handle and the motion sensors, which are behind it, will allow you to unlock the door automatically.
Remember that for this, the car key must be at a reasonable distance from the vehicle.
You should also know that it is impossible to lock the car with the handle if the key is still in the car.
2. With the Volvo Cars application
The second way is to use the "Volvo Cars" app on your smartphone or any device that is capable of installing it (only available for models dating from 2015 and later).
Once you are connected to your car using your smart device, you will be able to go to the lock icon and select whether you want to lock or unlock the vehicle from any distance.
Note that it will be necessary to create a code to unlock your vehicle (often it will be the code that is used to unlock your phone or other device) to avoid that a thief, a bad person or even a child has the possibility to enter your car without being aware of it.
We hope that this content has been helpful to you and that it may assist you in the use of your Volvo.
